+/- is given if there’s a level of uncertainty deriving from one of the followings:

-          The wine is possibly better/worse if served at different temperature, decantered (or not)

-          I suspect that the wine is better if tasted only some months before/later

-          The wine is almost up/down there or it’s slightly better/worse than most recently reviewed wines from the same category (this is the most likely reason)

-          Maybe I’m just not in that mood so it could actually score higher/lower if tasted another day

-          I am simply not convinced about the most likely score I can give (this is the second most likely reason)

After all, +/- serves for eliminating some of the subjective elements and hopefully together with written notes it improves the orientation of the reader.

Fair value means that this is the price for which you can find several wines of this category, but you have to search for them because most of the wines of this category are above this price level.
