Wine events – Spring 2008

I picked a couple of events to be held in April of which I heared of. This is not a complete list and I can’t provide you with all the details either so drop me an e-mail or a comment if you wish to add something.

Open Cellars Days (Nyitott Pince Napok) by Association of Open Cellars, 30th April – 1st May.

A good alternative for the usual Budapest “majális” programs, Open Cellars Days allow visitors to meet the winemakers and buy wines directly at the cellars at a discount of 50%. Many famous wineries are participating but it’s also a good opportunity to discover new favorites from all major wine regions of Hungary.

I. Felvidéki Újbor Mustra – 18th April 2009 – Komárom (Slovakia), Magyar Kultúra Háza

This wine and food festival will take place right on the border of Slovakia and Hungary with well-known highlands names including:

Drozdík Pincészet (Ebed és Garamkissalló)

Hengerics Birtok (Kővágó)

Bott Frigyes Pincészete (Muzsla – Őrsújfalu)

Molnár Pince (Kürt – Nádszeg)

Mátyás Pince (Kisújfalu)

Kasnyik Pince (Kürt)

Itália borai workshop (Wines of Italy workshop) -23rd April, 2009 – Budapest, New York Palace Hotel

This  event organised by the Italian Foreign Trade Institute expects wine merchants, sommeliers and wine writers to attend. (I probably won’t be allowed to attend).

Venue:
Budapest, New York Palace Hotel
1073 Budapest, Erzsébet krt. 9-11.
