A ride on Andrássy avenue
Andrássy is by far the most beautiful large avenue of Budapest. Every visitor should walk through it from one end to another. You’ll find nice shops, Cafés, restaurants (don’t miss Klassz!) but above all, architecture.
Sacher cake
This is a fake Sachertorte made by the value confectionery Rigó Jancsi in the XIIth district of Budapest. This Viennese specialty is made in most downtown Budapest Cafés too and although it’s mostly delicious, itseldom can be compared with the original.
Still life study
If you like wines, you might want to check out the Hungarian Wine Guide.
For tips how to eat well in Hungary, here’s a hint: Eat in Budapest
Fertőd - Esterházy Kastély
I’ve recently visited Fertőrákos for the sole purpose of experiencing the Ráspi restaurant and winery. On our way back to Budapest we stopped at Fertőd and visited the castle of one of the most traditional family of the late Austro-Hungarian establishment’s Hungarian representatives. The family (Miklós Esterházy, to be more precise) that started building the [...]
The Budapest City
This picture was taken in the Budapest banking district. Quite appropriate I believe, Hungarian Forint lost 7% of its value today, my treasury bonds have no market and the stock exchange’s main index fell more than 10%.
This building is located by the Momotaro Ramen restaurant, which I strongly recommend for locals and tourists. You can [...]
Art Café Tranzit
Honestly, I don’t know why anyone from outside this neighborhood would find this place. But if you do, make sure you enter. I felt embarrassed taking pictures inside (there’s are photography in there, you know) but it’s worth a visit. They transformed this old-school socialist-realist bus station into a trendy place where you can site outside or [...]
Farger’s building
If you want a decent coffee in downtown Budapest, you’ll have multiple choices. You can narrow your possibilities by good location, good service, bagels and fresh cakes, terrace, dog of the house, great building and there you are. If you’re American, you know the place already or you will get to. It’s the opposite side [...]
Budapest Restaurant Guide
I haven’t been posintg here for a while but I’ve been busy launching an online restaurant guide to help tourists and ex-pats in Budapest to avoid tourist traps in gastronomy (yer, there are so many).
I consider myself a conscious consumer and I believe that visitors coming to Budapest have a level of sophistication so that [...]
Unability
I’m still unable to post decent city photos so all I can do is either pick older pictures or keep posting wine labels. Today, once again, I decided to do the latter.
This wine is not that good btw (scored 3), so check my wine blog to find out about good Hungarian wines.
More wine
Lately I haven’t been able to take pictures in the city. All I can do is posting photos taken at home about wine bottles. Why not? These can be pretty and as you can see even cute, they can be found in huge quantities in my flat and they photograph well. So here they are, [...]
Szimpla Kert(mozi) - Szimpla garden movie theater
You can find more information about Szimpla Kertmozi in this post.
These 2 pictures were taken at the entrance. The first one is an installation located at the entrance corridor. The second one (below) seems like a home interior from the 70s. And it is probably: this room could have been the janitor’s room and they [...]
