This photo was taken in the heart of Budapest: 300 meters from Chain Bridge, from Szt. István Basilica, 100 m from Andrássy street. It’s a socialist realist nightmare. Kind of cool though.

Sorry, were you interested in showing the nightmare side of Budapest??? Why dont’you show on your fotos the places which take Budapest “The East of Paris” or the “Pearl of the Danube?”
A hungarian girl
This is the point, gianna. The aim is to call people’s attention to the fact that Budapest’s beautiful areas are shrinking and most Hungarians don’t even give a shit. Most of them actually do like the recent wave of horrible new property developments and agree to the destruction of the old houses built in the late 19th and early 20th century which have been dominating the landscape until the end of WWII. It’s a shame and a huge waste. But this is reality, like it or not.
i like the old and the architecture from the 50ies to the 70ies as well, if it is good architecture. all the time there was good and bad architecture but i think the last years the new developements are most of the time only to make money and there is no interest for the town, the people or the society. of course today i wouldn’t design a house like this on the picture at Jozsef Attila u. (build in 1956, designed by Dezsö DuÌ€l), but at the time of its construction it was related to the ideas what good architecture is. so this is for me not a nightmare but an interesting example of good architecture of this period.
